Jackson Trout Tune 55 Lure

The Jackson Trout Tune 55 Lure is the 'normal' version of the range, which basically means the all-rounder of the bunch and the best option if you're unsure of which to get. It's still a sinking lure so it can reach the deeper areas if there's minimal water movement, or be worked along the bottom area of shallower waters, but it can also work effectively along the top section of the water column too. At 3.5g you can still cast this little lure quite a distance especially with light tackle. These also work really well in shallow water streams when targeting trout as they sit around 50cm below the surface working across and down the streams.

Jackson Trout Tune F 55 Lure

The Jackson Trout Tune F 55 Lure is the floating version of the Trout Tunes. Coming in at 3g total weight, it still carries a fair way through the air so casting isn't really an issue with light tackle. These lures are great for shallower streams and flats fishing, and when the fish are hitting the surface.

Originally designed for targeting trout and other estuary-based species, the Jackson Trout Tune range is the result of miniaturising their very successful saltwater Athlete lure range. The same body shape and design has four separate models to suit a wide range of conditions and environments, all are 55mm long with varying weights, buoyancies and bibs. Jackson Bottom Magic Light Tune Lure

Released shortly after the original Bottom Magics, the Light Tune Lures are simply a lighter and slower sinking version of the standard 55mm lures. Built for shallow estuary environments like trout streams, creeks and flats fishing, they come equipped with barbless singles like the standard model and can be fished for the same sorts of species.

We've caught plenty of fish ourselves without changing the barbless hooks over, so we know they work out of the box. In saying that, they are harder to land because they require constant pressure and when the fish shake their head the hooks can flick out, so upgrading the hooks to either doubles, trebles or assist hooks is recommended for a better landing rate. We've tried almost all combinations of hooks, but the best we've used and now use all the time is having a small assist hook on the middle hook point, and a small treble on the rear hook point.  in the middle size (size 6) are the perfect fit for assist hooks and once the fish is hooked on the assist there's very little chance of losing it because they can't lever the hook out due to the flexible assist chord, plus they add a bit of flare and attraction with their holographic tinsel and rubber strands.  in size 12 are the perfect small treble for the rear hook point on these, and they're incredibly sticky.

How To Use The Bottom Magic Lures

There are plenty of ways to work this lure depending on what you're chasing, but the most effective method and ironically the easiest has been this:

1. Cast the lure out and let it sink to the bottom
2. Wind in the slack line and give the lure 1 or 2 small twitches (making it 'hop' about anywhere up to 50cm off the ground)
3. Slowly wind in the slack line
4. Repeat the twitching every 1-2 seconds. A slight pause here and there can help with the more timid biters

Jackson Eddy 5g Lure

The Jackson Eddy Lures are a trout spinner metal designed for use in dams and deeper areas when chasing trout. Jackson Bone Bait Jr 2" Soft Plastics

The Jackson Bone Bait is a slim profile, ribbed worm paddle tail soft plastic that comes in a great range of colours. It's slender profile and paddle tail provides a very accurate baitfish swimming action, and the ribbed body not only adds an appealing sonic in the water, it also allows any rub on scent to embed itself nicely on the plastic and hang around longer. Perfect for targeting species that dwell in reefs and rocks to sand flats to weed beds. The Bone Bait Jr 2" soft plastic lure is particularly effective in targeting those fussy eaters like bream and whiting or even in general on those days when fish wont take any of your bigger plastics.
